Photoworks Gallery announces a Call for Entries for United/Divided, our upcoming public exhibition of photography in 2017. As an art institution showcasing photographers in the Washington Metropolitan Area, we are in a unique position to initiate a visual dialog that explores the connections and divisions that currently exist in our nation, and in our nation’s capitol. Robert Miller, Deputy Director of Photography at The Washington Post, will serve as the juror for the exhibition. Miller’s journalistic focus is on the news, which includes National, Foreign, Financial, Real Estate, Metro, Investigative, Outlook and the Digital News Hub. Miller has deftly handled the last eighteen months of the presidential campaign and national enterprise coverage for The Washington Post. He also coaches and mentors the Post’s newest photo editing staff members and staff photojournalists.
Instructions:
1. Submit up to 5 images to photoworks.gallery@gmail.c
2. Use “United/Divided” and Your Name in the subject line.
3. There is $40 Entry Fee for up to 5 images.
4. Pay via paypal on our website, or send a check to Photoworks at 7300 MacArthur Blvd, Glen Echo, MD 20812. All checks must be postmarked on or before January 30, 2017.
5. Size of Images:
– If portrait orientation, no larger than 500px wide by 700px tall, 72dpi, sRGB, jpg quality = 8
– If landscape orientation, no larger than 1000px wide by 700px tall, 72dpi, sRGB, jpg quality = 8
– If square, image size should be no larger than 700px wide by 700px tall
6. Please attach a separate word document to the email with your contact information. This should include:
a. Name, Address, Phone, Email Address
b. Numbers list of entries with title and year
c. Printed image size and intended frame size
d. Medium (i.e. ink jet print, gelatin silver, etc.)
e. Price
7. Any work deemed misrepresented by the digital file will be declined.
8. Notification of Juried Results: February 14, 2017
9. Delivery of Framed Photographs: February 21, 2017
10. Date for Pick-Up of Artwork: April 2-4, 2017
11. Photoworks will professionally install the exhibition, provide signage, marketing and publicity.
